Let's Just Change

There is a need for change.

And if you have a problem with that,

Than you are the problem!

One of our lost prophets once said,

“Let's change the way we eat
Let's change the way we live
And let's change the way we treat each other
You see, the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
What we gotta do, to survive.”

But still, we see no change!

We march and we protest,

We cry and we carry on,

Enforcing the spread of knowledge

And raising essential awareness,

But is this enough?

Too many of us are starving.

Too many of us are killing ourselves.

Too many of us are feeling unsafe, too often.

Too many of us are uneducated.

Too many of us are misguided, misinformed,

and unaware of all of this.

A movement suggests something

Physical

But we also need to use our mental faculties

In order to transcend the physical realm

And achieve what I believe

Will relieve us of this disease.

Because I believe in the power

Of human belief,

And if this belief becomes widespread

It becomes knowledge.

Knowledge is power,

And power is freedom.

I’m talking about a revolution

-  to rage against the system,

A system that has swept so many aside,

A system that forces and allows

So many to struggle to survive,

A system that has been kept alive

By the greedy few that stand

Upon the throats of the many,

Counting their cash and

Grinning, laughingly;

Detestably; powerfully

At the rest of us

Laying powerlessly, face down

In the mud.

Power doesn’t listen with honest ears

To the whispers of the powerless.

We cannot let these deaf bastards

Keep us down.

So hold your head up high.

Stay strong,

Willing,

And unafraid

Because they live off our collective

Fear of them,

Which only pushes us down

Further into the mud.

Let’s stand up,

Bruised, beaten, bloodied and muddy,

And throw some mud back into

Their selfish, soulless faces.

Because they’re scared of getting dirty,

But they’re even more scared

Of being exposed for how truly

Filthy;

Greedy;

Corrupt;

Bigoted;

Evil

They truly are.

We do not need their permission,

But I am asking for yours:

Let us change.

Please,

Let’s just change.

Let’s change ourselves.

Let’s change our world.

Let’s change our future.
